Every year, Bollywood brings us heaps of vibrant and exciting movies. Some of the best Hindi movies of 2020 have included the likes of Thappad, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Sir, and Har Kisse Ke Hisse: Kaamyaab. But where can you stream all of these movies and more?

Well, there are a lot of free websites out there to choose from. However, streaming for free is not without its risks or challenges.

Why you need a VPN to watch Hindi movies online

Firstly, you may not be able to access certain movies because of your location, which can be frustrating. There is also the risk of a dangerous malware being installed onto your device if you download a torrent or stream that has not been authorized.

The good news is that these risks can be mitigated, though. You simply need to install a reliable VPN, which will mask your IP address so that you’re operating securely, as well as enabling you to access content that is geo-blocked. NordVPN is a great all-rounder, so this is a good place to start if you’re looking for a VPN to stream Hindi movies online. I certainly don’t advise watching Hindi movies online (or any other type of movie) without using a VPN.

Best Hindi Movie Streaming Site For Film Selection

1. YoMovies

YoMovies is a great place to watch Hindi films online. It is blocked in India, so if you’re based there, you will need a VPN. Both NordVPN and ExpressVPN are great choices here.

YoMovies

So, what makes YoMovies one of my top picks? Well, you can watch a wide range of Hindi movies, from old films to new releases, and you can do so without needing to sign-up or spend a penny. I must admit that their selection of new releases is not extensive, yet there’s still plenty to keep you entertained.

I enjoy the interface at YoMovies. I had no trouble finding the movie I was interested in. When looking for a movie, you will get a link to the trailer, as well as some details on the film, so it makes it easy for you to decide what to watch.

Aside from watching Bollywood films, you can watch Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, South Indian Hindi dubbed, Hollywood Hindi dubbed, and Hollywood movies, as well as 18+ films.

YoMovies also has two streaming servers. This means that if one sever lets you down, you can switch to another.

2. Hotstar

Another great place to watch Hindi movies is Hotstar. You will find a broad selection of Bollywood movies that you can watch free of charge here. Sign-up is not required, meaning no personal information need to be handed over, which is always a positive when using any online service.

While some titles are free, others do need to be paid for. You can easily tell which titles are paid, as they will have a badge saying “Premium” on them. If you do upgrade to the Premium subscription, you will also be able to avoid the ads.

Hotstar also gives you the ability to stream live sports, which is great for any sports fans. The video quality is excellent too, and I’ve had no problems with the stream whenever I have used this service.

3. GoFilms4U

Another site that has a good selection of Hindi movies is GoFilms4U. Here, you can watch HD Hindi films and you don’t need to register. There is no paid service either; it is completely free. Movies are available in full-length, so you can keep yourself entertained without needing to spend a penny.

Of course, there are some ads, though, so do keep this in mind. One or two ads tend to pop up once you hit the play button, so you will need to close these to enjoy your movie. You could install a VPN with an AdBlocker to help with this.

You can also watch films in regional Indian languages, from Telugu to Tamil. Finding a film you’re interested in is not difficult either. Just browse the movies based on the year they were released.

4. Voot

Voot is another platform that I have been impressed with for streaming free Bollywood movies. Not only does it have a wide range of new releases and classics, but there are also English, Bengali, Kannad, and Telugu offerings to watch. You can also watch short films, the news, television shows, and more.

To make the most of Voot, you will need to sign-up to the platform and you do need to watch ads, yet most would agree that it is worth it considering it is free to use.

The site is also very easy to navigate. I have had no troubles finding movies. The title search bar makes it incredibly easy.

A number of different devices are supported on Voot, with excellent apps for iOS and Android available. Reliable streaming speeds and great video quality are to be expected.

You will need to install a VPN and connect to an Indian server if you are based outside of India, so do keep this in mind.

5. Spuul

Spuul is another website I have tested. Unlike a lot of the streaming sites discussed, it provides a worldwide service. However, you should still use a VPN to protect your privacy while using this site.

spuul

At Spuul, you are able to watch TV shows, short movies, and full-length movies in different regional languages from India. You can either stream them or download them.

One thing to note, though, is that Spuul is not a free streaming website. You do need to choose a premium plan, and you can pay either monthly or yearly. The yearly plan works out cheaper overall.

I was disappointed to learn that once you have paid for the plan, you still need to pay to rent a movie. Every movie you rent is billed separately, so this is certainly one of the more expensive options out there.

Back to the good points, though; numerous devices are supported on Spuul. This includes Chromecast, web browsers, smart TVs, iOS, and Android.

6. Zee5

I found Zee5 to have a big collection of Hindi films, covering all of the main genres. There are both free and paid films available at Zee5. You can determine whether a movie is paid by looking for the “Premium” badge. If it does not have this badge, it is free to watch.

I was happy with the video quality and streaming speed at Zee5. You can also watch the news and TV shows, as well as streaming new and old movies.

You won’t need to sign-up to take advantage of Zee5 and geoblocking should not be an issue because the service is available worldwide.

7. SonyLiv

There is an extensive selection of both premium and free content at SonyLiv. This not only includes some great Hindi movies but plenty of Indian TV channels as well.

SonyLiv Make sure you download a VPN to use SonyLive!

I found the layout of the site to be great. It is clean and simple, making it easy to find what you need. Plus, any premium content is labelled clearly, so you don’t run the risk of watching a trailer, falling in love with the idea of the film, and then finding out you have to pay for it!

If you’re only going to watch free films and shows on SonyLiv, you won’t actually need to sign-up. However, you will need to put up with a few adverts.

If you do decide to go for a subscription plan, I would definitely say that SonyLiv is one of the best in terms of value-for-money. They also have PPV WWE events running, which you will need to purchase individually should you be interested.

You will need to use a VPN that has a server in India, though, as SonyLiv is only available there.

8. YuppTV

Next, we have YuppTV, which is another paid option. It is actually one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world. You can enjoy over 100 television shows in more than 17 regional Indian languages, as well as getting access to more than 5,000 movies and over 4,000 TV channels. I don’t think you will ever get bored if you decide to go for YuppTV.

There are a lot of great features on YuppTV, including the Mini Theater, which enables you to watch the latest movies. Catch Up TV is available, and six screens are supported, namely PCs and laptops, as well as smartphones, tablets, smart Blu-ray players, and Internet STBs.

There is a free trial available, which lasts for 14 days. However, the free trial is a restricted version of the premium offering, so do keep this in mind when you’re trying it out.

9. Hungama

Hungama Movies is another place that offers a good assortment of classic and new Hindi movies, and I have to say that I was impressed with the video quality and speed.

hungama

Not only will you get access to films, but there is a range of more than 3.5 million songs too!

You have both paid and free content at Hungama. However, I must say, the free collection is pretty extensive, so you won’t feel forced into paying for titles. This is a paid subscription service, though, so do keep that in mind. A 30-day free trial is available for app users.

One of the best things about Hungama is that they have a sort of loyalty/point scheme in place. This enables you to earn Hungama coins to pay for your subscription. To do this, you will need to fulfil different tasks, such as listening to a certain song or registering for an account.
