Finding an up-to-date list of the best torrent sites can be difficult. Due to the nature of torrenting, and the legalities around it, torrent sites can appear and disappear overnight.
Before you dive into the torrenting world, it’s important to take note of what you can and can’t share. Unfortunately, many torrent sites are created for the purpose of piracy; access to films, TV series, and games, without actually purchasing them.
Copyright infringement is of course against the U.K. law. It is in many other countries too, and can even come with a prison sentence. So, when you’re torrenting, just be aware of what you’re indulging in and how to stay safe when doing so.
BEST VPNS FOR TORRENT USAGE:
1. The Pirate Bay
Founded in 2003, The Pirate Bay (TPB) has almost always been one of the most popular torrent sites. TPB is available in 35 different languages and makes it’s money through donations, advertisements, and cryptocurrency mining.
The Pirate Bay offers one of the simplest user interfaces in the torrenting world. It’s interface actually hasn’t changed much (if at all) since it’s launch in 2003. Why change something that works? Users can enjoy a range of files, including audiobooks, music, films, games, software, and more.
However, if you want to be able to enjoy privacy and the best download speeds, which are a must for torrenting, you will need a good VPN. I would never advise anyone to torrent without the use of one. NordVPN is considered one of the best on the market for torrenting.
Download torrents quicker with NordVPN
One of the features I find quite useful with The Pirate Bay is their Trusted and VIP statuses. On a torrent search, these are represented by a pink skull icon (Trusted) or a green skull icon (VIP). Trusted users have a reputation for uploading trusted and good quality torrent files. These are spam and malware free, and can be trusted by TPB community.
VIP torrents are similar, but just hold a higher level of status. Generally speaking, if you download torrent files with a VIP status, you are much less likely to get a virus or a dodgy torrent on your computer or device.
Does The Pirate Bay Sound Right For You?
The Pirate Bay Pros:
- Easy to use
- Simple to identify trusted torrents
- No charge
- Magnet links available
The Pirate Bay Cons:
- Community comments can be misleading
- Content is not policed
2. 1337x
1337x has been around since 2007 and provides a directory style list of popular torrents. It has a stable community with regular uploaders whose content can be trusted. 1337x has many categories, and if you’re looking for inspiration, offers top 100 lists in each of these.
When KickAss Torrents closed in 2016, 1337x’s popularity increased. Whether you’ve visited a torrent site before or not, you’ll find 1337x really easy to use and navigate. As well as providing popular categories, you can also search for torrents based on filters like Oscar Nominations and Trending Torrents for inspiration.
When searching for a torrent, 1337x’s interface makes it clear what you’re looking at. At a glance, you can see how many comments the torrent file has, how many seeders and leechers it has, and when it was uploaded. Files like movies are also tagged so you can see if they are in High Definition or not.
1337x Pros:
- Popular categories and torrent suggestions
- Easy to sort by each torrent
1337x Cons:
- Lots of pop ups
- Adverts can be invasive
3. RARBG
Landing in our browsers in 2008, RARBG has a big following for high quality videos and movie releases. RARBG has a huge collection of old and new torrent files. One of it’s main go-to reasons for users is the quality of the torrents available.
Like some other torrent sites, RARBG boasts a top 10 list which can be really useful for some inspiration. The lists provide users with the most popular and most downloaded films available on the website. Details include the file size, when it was added to the site, who stars in the film, and how many seeders and leechers there are.
Whilst it’s perhaps not the cleanest or most modern interface out there, RARBG has a huge following and large community. If you come across a movie that takes your fancy, you can visit a separate web page where you can view movie trailers and TV shows. Pretty useful if you’re not sure what you want to watch.
RARBG Pros:
- High quality torrents
- Plenty of movies to choose from
- Blog and latest news
RARBG Cons:
- Lots of advertisements on the site
4. YTS
Another torrent site for movie buffs, YTS focuses entirely on movie torrent files. YTS is super easy to use, with a nice website layout that would appeal to the masses. The torrents available are of a high quality, and include a wide selection of old and new films.
When YTS/YIFY closed down in 2015, YTS.am (YTS.ag) kind of became it’s successor (unofficially). For this reason, YTS has a massive following and tonnes of users flock to it to download movies. Because of the amount of users, there are often no problems finding torrent files that are lacking in seeders or leechers.
If your ISP places a cap on your data or bandwidth, YTS may be the best torrent site for you to use. The torrent files are known to be more lenient in terms of bandwidth, so you won’t have to worry too much about exceeding your data allowance.
YTS Pros:
- A wide choice of movies
- Different downloadable formats
- Big user following
YTS Cons:
- Can only download movie torrents
5. Torrentz2
A slightly different approach on torrent sites, Torrentz2 is actually a torrent search engine. Searching over 90 torrent sites, Torrentz2 takes the place of the old (now obliterated) Torrentz. It’s quite simple to use; type in the torrent you’re looking for and Torrentz2 will search torrent sites to find the best torrent file.
There’s not much else to say on the user interface front of Torrentz2. You’ll be presented with a search box where you can search for the torrent you’re looking for. A list of results will come up, showing you the title of the torrent, the file size, category, and how old the file is.
Once you click on the torrent, you can download the torrent or the magnet file. There will be further details on the torrent file you’ve chose, with a lot more information. For example, if you search for a film, there are screenshots, movie clips, and more to look through.
Does Torrentz2 Sound Right For You?
Torrentz2 Pros:
- 24/7 support with live chat
- Easy to use
- Powerful clients
- Extremely fast performance
Torrentz2 Cons:
- Some bonus features require separate purchase
- Doesn’t unblock Netflix
6. EZTV
Moving on from movies, EZTV is the best torrent site to visit if you want to download TV shows. From the latest TV series to old episodes you may have forgotten about. Users can visit EZTV and create an account to keep a log of downloaded torrents and their favourite shows.
Its interface is simple and easy to use. Type in what you want to search for in the search bar. A table format list is presented showing a download link and magnet link icon as well as the number of seeders, leechers and file size. It may not be the best looking torrent site but it certainly does the job.
You may not find every torrent you’re after on EZTV but users do report the excellent quality of torrent files. When downloading torrents, quality is certainly more important than quantity in my opinion.
7. LimeTorrents
With over half a decade of experience, LimeTorrents offers it’s users plenty of torrent categories to choose from. Torrent files include games, TV shows, movies, anime, and applications. It’s content is regularly updated which makes it very popular in the torrent market.
It has a nice interface which is easy to use. You can search for something specific you may have in mind or click on a category for inspiration. Each category shows the top 100 list of torrents available on LimeTorrents.
Once you’ve got your list of torrents, it’s really easy to determine which one you want to download. It’s simple to filter by seeders, leechers, size, or when a file was added. The helpful health bar shows how ‘healthy’ a torrent is too. Feedback can be provided on torrents, so if you find one that’s particularly good or bad, you can contribute to the community.
Does LimeTorrents Sound Right For You?
LimeTorrents Pros:
- Useful health bar
- Torrents split into categories
- Nice, clean interface
LimeTorrents Cons:
- Category lists don’t auto-filter to the best torrent
8. Zooqle
If you’re into gaming, Zooqle hosts an array of gaming torrents for your appetite. It’s a fairly new torrent site, but with it’s steadily increasing content, it’s becoming rather popular. Unlike many torrent sites, Zooqle isn’t filled with advertisements which makes for a refreshing experience.
The Zooqle website is nice to look at and easy to use. Users can enter a range of search queries into the search bar including movie names, actors, directors, etc. Zooqle has nearly 40,000 movies in it’s directory which is pretty impressive given how new the site is.
Although there’s plenty of movies and TV shows, Zooqle has started to get a name for itself for gaming and software applications. Once you find the torrent you’re looking for, you can direct download or use the magnet link provided. There’s helpful information available like the files included, as well as comments and feedback from the community.
Does Zooqle Sound Right For You?
Zooqle Pros:
- Stunning website
- Easy to use and get involved in the community
- Great for gaming and software
Zooqle Cons:
- New to the market so may not contain all torrents
9. Torrents.me
Torrents.me is a torrent search engine, however, it does offer a lot more than just that. Torrents.me is slightly different to Torrentz2 as it takes data from other sites that also search for torrents.
The website provides a list of torrent sites for the purpose you’re looking for. For example, if you’re after a torrent site that is best for movies, or best for TV shows, it will list them. You can also navigate directly to the category pages you’re after.
If you’re not quite sure what torrent you want to search for, you can make use of Torrents.me’s search trends. It will show you how popular a selection of searches are, and the trending data from the torrents themselves.
Does Torrents.me Sound Right For You?
Torrents.me Pros:
- Intuitive search trend data
- Simple categories to search through
- Lists torrent sites based on their purpose
Torrents.me Cons:
- Search results include results with all search words rather than being specific
10. TorLock
One of the few torrent sites that still uses it’s .com domain name, TorLock is our 10th torrent site on the best torrent sites of 2019. TorLock is an extremely popular torrent site and provides a wide range of torrent categories to search through.
The front page of TorLock’s website is packed full of the latest and most downloaded torrents in each category. You can see when files have been uploaded, their size, and amount of seeders and leechers. Quite standard as is with most torrent sites.
When searching for a torrent, TorLock seems to display torrent files with all the contents of your search term. I can see how this could be useful, but for me it’s a little frustrating. I’d also expect to see the files with the most seeders available at the top of my search so I don’t have to filter for the results.
Does TorLock Sound Right For You?
TorLock Pros:
- Popular amongst the torrent community
- Easy to use
- Popular amongst the torrent community
TorLock Cons:
- Search doesn’t seem intuitive
11. iDope
iDope is more of a torrent search engine than a torrent site. It provides direct magnet links to torrents that you’ve searched for. It has an enormous database of over 18 million torrents, so should suit most people.
The UI is clean and easy to use. I must admit, some torrent sites are so confusing that it makes them difficult to use or stick with. iDope has a mobile-friendly version of it’s site too, making the whole experience much more pleasant.
iDope is a “tribute to Kickass” and is a revised version of the former iDope.top which was shutdown. You can download torrents in just a single click, saving you the time and effort of going through numerous sites and links.
iDope Pros:
- Over 18 million torrents
- Clean interface & easy to use
- One-click torrent downloads
iDope Cons:
- Too many intrusive ads
12. YourBittorrent
YourBittorent was founded in 2009. But it was actually originally started back in 2003. The site was a collaboration between two business partners, formerly myBittorrent. Due to one of the partners wanting the website to be shutdown, a split happened. The other partner (who wanted to make the site bigger) created YourBittorrent.
YourBittorrent is currently banned in Portugal. It has almost 2 million torrents available, covering popular categories like movies, software, games, music, TV series, anime, and eBooks. YourBittorent, similar to iDope, supports instant downloads, offering a quick and simple user experience.
It’s easy to filter the list of results on YourBittorrent. Simply click on the size, age, seeds, or peers categories to re-order them. When clicking on a torrent, the result shows some information about the torrent (e.g. film information) and related/similar torrents to download.
Does YourBittorrent Sound Right For You?
YourBittorrent Pros:
- Nice user interface
- Easy to search and filter results
- Supports instant downloads
YourBittorrent Cons:
- Can only be accessed through Proxy
13. Demonoid
Demonoid is a firm fan favourite! In terms of reliability of finding torrents, Demonoid is my go to torrent site. It was launched in 2003, the same as The Pirate Bay. Unfortunately it has had a lot of downtime due to political pressures, but is going strong in 2019.
Demonoid has well over 10 million regular users and almost 1 million torrent files. Popular torrent categories include movies, TV series, books, games, and software applications. Their most popular torrent files seem to be movies and TV series, compared to others.
The site is banned in Ukraine, but no other countries as far as we’re aware. You will need to register an account with Demonoid to gain access to their torrents. As of July 2019, registration is closed unless you have an invitation code (which can be gained from the internet).
Does Demonoid Sound Right For You?
Demonoid Pros:
- Plenty of torrents
- Great for movies and TV shows
- Popular and reliable site
Demonoid Cons:
- Requires registration (invite only)
14. Bitport.io
Bitport.io is a torrent client as well as it’s own website. You can download torrents with the reassurance that it’s secure and encrypted. It uses cloud-based technology so there’s no need to worry about obtrusion.
Bitport.io has several apps across multiple platforms, making it very asccessibly. You can sync your accounts across your devices including your PC. This means you can store all your files on your cloud storage account (very handy). The torrent site allows users to stream videos in 4K, including subtitles if you wish.
User experience is number one for Bitport.io, you don’t need to use a VPN to use the website, and you can do everything on your smartphone. My favourite feature about Bitport.io is that torrent fetching is done using Bitport.io IP addresses. You can be reassured your IP address is safe and no one will know who you are.
Does Bitport.io Sound Right For You?
Bitport.io Pros:
- No need to use a VPN
- Over 2 million torrents available
- Extremely easy to use
Bitport.io Cons:
- Stable and fast downloads require you to sign up to a pricing plan

15. P2PGuru
P2PGuru is a modern-day take on torrent sites, with user experience at the forefront. It can be quite difficult finding a good torrent site, and when you do, they’re covered in annoying pop-ups. P2PGuru doesn’t have any intrusive ads or pop-ups (hooray)!
P2PGuru is extremely user friendly. It’s so nice to be able to click anywhere on the website without the fear of being diverted to anywhere else. Thankfully, the good points don’t end there. Although the website is fairly new and doesn’t have as much content as other torrent sites, it continues to battle to have free sharing of all content.
It has a very sophisticated database with IMDB rankings. You can personally tailor your own Watchlist, Quality Index, Notify-Me, and Guru Ratings (to name a few). The website is constantly being developed to keep users coming back for more. I feel this has the potential to become one of the best torrent sites of 2022.
Does P2PGuru Sound Right For You?
P2PGuru Pros:
- Extremely easy to use
- Lots of customisation and tailored options
P2PGuru Cons:
- Website can take a while to load
16. ExtraTorrent
ExtraTorrent was established in 2010, so you’ve probably heard of it already. ExtraTorrent has a mirror site called ExtraTorrent.cd with millions of movies, software, TV Shows etc. to browse.
One issue I encountered with the site was it was quite performance hungry. Accessing it on my computer slowed it down a fair bit, with high CPU usage. I’m not sure why it happened but it calmed down after a few minutes.
ExtraTorrent does have quite a few intrusive aspects about it, as do most torrent sites. When you get past the ads and pop-ups, the site is easy to use and you can see most things at a glance. There were plenty of torrents to search and I didn’t have a problem finding what I wanted.
Does ExtraTorrent Sound Right For You?
ExtraTorrent Pros:
- Easy to use
- Plenty of torrents to search
- Wide range of categories
ExtraTorrent Cons:
- High CPU usage
17. SkyTorrents
SkyTorrents offers a very simple user-interface without being plastered in ads. It’s a fairly new site, only being launched in 2017. However, it already has quite a popular reach with a large selection of torrents. These include movies, games, software, and TV series.
SkyTorrents supports instant downloads which is always a bonus. When you click on a torrent to download, it’s fetched and downloaded from the torrent site itself. You can also use magnet links if you don’t want to directly download.
The torrent site informs it’s users that a VPN must be used. Although there aren’t any ads on the homepage or search page, you will get them when you start clicking. This is pretty standard practice across most torrent sites as it’s their way of making money.
Does SkyTorrents Sound Right For You?
SkyTorrents Pros:
- Instant downloads
- Simple user interface
- Large selection of torrents
SkyTorrents Cons:
- Must use a VPN
18. IsoHunt
You’ve probably heard of IsoHunt before. In fact, they’ve been around almost as long as The Pirate Bay have. IsoHunt have an insanely large amount of torrents on their site to download. Whether you’re looking for music, movies, games, or software, you’re sure to find it here.
IsoHunt has had some downtime, being replaced with mirrors. It’s now known as IsoHunt.to and can be accessed using the button below this review. You may feel overwhelmed when you start browsing on IsoHunt as there’s undeniably a lot to look through. In fact, they have millions of torrent downloads.
You may not find everything you’re looking for on IsoHunt but I’m pretty confident you’ll feel satisfied. The interface is easy to use, enabling you to browse by categories or by searching. Frustratingly though, you will need to download the IsoHunt client in order to access any torrents. It is free, and all you’ll need is an email address.
Does IsoHunt Sound Right For You?
IsoHunt Pros:
- Instant downloads
- Large selection of torrents
- Simple user interface
IsoHunt Cons:
- Must use a VPN
19. TorrentFunk
With almost 10 years in the industry, TorrentFunk is known for it’s quality movie torrents. Of course, it offers plenty more in the way of torrent files including music, games, software and more. The main site displays a list of the latest torrent and most popular (downloaded) torrents.
If you’re not really sure what you’re looking for, TorrentFunk make it easy to browse categories and popular lists. Their interface is easy to use and simply displays the age, size, seeds and peers of each torrent file.
When using TorrentFunk you’ll likely be notified about your IP address. Make sure you use a VPN when using this torrent site otherwise your privacy may not be protected. Thankfully I didn’t encounter any annoying ads or pop-ups when using the site.
Does TorrentFunk Sound Right For You?
TorrentFunk Pros:
- Popular torrent lists
- Easy to use and search for torrents
- No annoying ads or pop-ups
TorrentFunk Cons:
- Use a VPN to protect your privacy
20. TorrentProject
If you’re looking for music, movies, games and software, TorrentProject can certainly help with this. Although it’s faced it’s fair share of blocks, with the website going down in 2017, we’re pleased to say it’s back up and running through a proxy site.
TorrentProject has almost 1 million torrent files (and counting). It seems to be pretty hot on new torrents (like new movie releases) but you may struggle to find older content. For example, I searched for a popular movie that was released 4 years ago and the results pulled nothing through.
The interface is very simple, but does come with the usual ads and pop-ups. Although the site is banned in most countries, you can access it using proxy or through VPNs (which I would recommend anyway).
Does TorrentProject Sound Right For You?
TorrentProject Pros:
- Good for latest movies and TV shows
- Simple interface
TorrentProject Cons:
- Accessed by proxy only
- Use a VPN to protect your privacy
21. Monova
Released back in 2005, Monova has had a few good years of fame and popularity. Unfortunately like some torrent sites, it did go down for quite a period of time. However, it’s now back, and looks better than ever with a much needed redesign.
There’s plenty of torrents available to search through. If you’re specifically looking for movies and software, I can recommend it. You can use the simple search feature at the top of the site or browse through the categories available. I did encounter a few snags with the search bar though, so hopefully you’ll have better luck!
Laced with adverts, you can avoid these most of the time by using an ad-blocker. You’ll find these are more prevalent on the download pages which is something to look out for. A lot of the ads are in the same style as the website and present as download buttons, so be careful.
Does Monova Sound Right For You?
Monova Pros:
- Good for software and movies
- New redesign of website
Monova Cons:
- Ads can be masked as download buttons
- Lots of pop-ups
