SiteGround’s hosting is awesome. I consider them a top tier shared host, with some really great features to boot.

Founded in 2004, SiteGround is a privately held company headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria. They employ over 320 people, and host more than 500,000 websites.

The three main benefits of SiteGround are as follows:

  1. Very Easy Setup
  2. Excellent Support
  3. Fast Hosting Speeds

The following is a comprehensive SiteGround review of their fast and secure web hosting for WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and other website building applications.

Hosting Server Specs

All their platforms, including the most basic shared hosting plan, include a plethora of options, including:

  • Free Domain
  • Free Website Builder
  • SSD Storage
  • 30 Day Money Back
  • Free Daily Backup
  • Free CloudFlare CDN
  • Unlimited MySQL Database
  • Free Migrations / Site Transfers
  • 24/7 Support
  • Free App Installs (such as WordPress)
  • Free Email Accounts
  • Unmetered Traffic
  • Free SSLs & HTTP/2
  • cPanel & SSH

The web storage capacity, ability to host multiple sites, PCI compliance, and perks like WordPress & Joomla staging come with the higher tier plans.

SiteGround Locations

SiteGround occupies four datacenters on three continents. While not a vast network, the datacenters are strategically located for optimum speed across a large coverage area. For example, the Chicago, IL USA location is very centrally located, and able to service North America with ease (SiteGround also recommends the Chicago, IL datacenter for South American and African installations).

The four locations are as follows:

  • Chicago, USA
  • London, UK
  • Amsterdam, NL
  • Singapore, SG

Reviewing SiteGround Support

Their support, while internationally based, is second to none. Upon 10 chat initiations over a 2-week period of time, I averaged a 14-second wait time. Additionally, there was no delay between communications, indicating that their staff is dedicated to you – not trying to juggle 20 open chats at once. While chatting with some other internationally based hosts can oftentimes leave too much lost in translation, SiteGround’s support is excellently trained – and while a pronoun here or there may get misplaced, their English is top notch. I’m not sure if it’s SiteGround’s customer service training, rigorous HR hiring practices, or if the Bulgarian public school system is to applaud. Either way, friendly, professional, and highly technical support staff is a nice perk to the service.

With 3 different support tickets I received an average of 8-minute response time – a stat completely unheard of if in the shared hosting space.
