SiteGround Pricing: Shared Hosting
If you have a small to medium-sized website and are looking for the cheapest hosting option, shared hosting is your best bet.
SiteGround has three shared hosting plans starting from $4.99 per month. The price you see is applicable to the first term only which means you’ll be charged the higher renewal rate if and when you renew.
Essentially, if you can commit to a longer-term and can afford to pay for 3 years upfront, you’ll get the biggest discounts. The issue is, not many people will want to commit for that long, meaning you’ll only get SiteGround’s special price for the length of your initial term.
While there are cheaper web hosts out there like Hostinger and Bluehost, SiteGround is in a league of its own, offering features only SiteGround customers can enjoy.
All of SiteGround’s shared hosting plans include:
- Free CDN
- Free SSL
- Caching
- Managed WordPress
CDN
SiteGround has partnered with Cloudflare to offer their customers a free CDN for their website. It speeds up your website’s loading time for visitors all around the world, regardless of where your web hosting server is hosted.
CDNs cache content so that it loads quickly for the end-user. With over 152 locations, your website visitors will be able to enjoy your website at faster speeds using the location that’s closest to them.
SSL
Whether you’re building an online store or hosting a small website, an SSL certificate is essential for Google to recognize your website as HTTPS. SSLs encrypt sensitive information like credit card details to protect them against hackers. SiteGround offers a free SSL certificate on all of its hosting plans.
Caching
All websites hosted with SiteGround can enjoy their in-house developed SuperCacher. Out of the box, NGINX-based static and dynamic cache is enabled, as well as the option for Memcached.
Managed WordPress
SiteGround’s shared hosting plans include WordPress installation using WP Starter which helps you to install WordPress. It also manages auto-updates of WordPress’s core software and offers expert WordPress support.
SiteGround Pricing: WordPress
WordPress hosting is ideal if you are building your website using WordPress. It offers extra features that WordPress users can benefit from to speed up their website.
Similar to SiteGround’s shared hosting pricing plans, its WordPress plans are essentially exactly the same. Prices start from $4.99, but this is applicable to your first term only.
SiteGround is recommended by WordPress and offers fantastic value for money for WordPress users. The other recommended WordPress hosts include Bluehost (prices start from $19.95/mo) and Dreamhost (from $29.99/mo), So in this case, SiteGround is good value for money.
The majority of the features are the same as you’ll get with SiteGround’s shared hosting plan. However, there are some cool additional features that are applicable to WordPress:
- Free WordPress installation
- Free WP migrator
SiteGround Pricing: WooCommerce
If you’re thinking of setting up an online store, WooCommerce is a free solution used with WordPress that allows you to create an eCommerce website for free.
As well as SiteGround providing WordPress-specific hosting plans, it also offers WooCommerce plans. This means that if you’re using WooCommerce, you should choose this plan as it comes with the same great benefits of their WordPress plan, but with added WooCommerce features.
SiteGround is recommended by WordPress and WooCommerce. These commendations suggest SiteGround is very reliable and provides tailored hosting plans for both services.
Running an online store comes with added management in comparison to hosting a website. SiteGround offers some helpful features to deal with this, including:
- WooCommerce pre-installed
- Managed updates
- AI anti-bot system
SiteGround Pricing: Cloud Hosting
Cloud hosting is the perfect combination of affordability and power. If you’re ready to leave shared hosting behind and expand your horizons but perhaps aren’t sure how many resources you’ll need, cloud hosting has got it covered.
SiteGround’s cloud hosting plans use virtual servers, meaning they are more reliable than physical shared servers. There are four cloud hosting plans to choose from, and the option to configure your own plan if you have specific requirements.
Compared to other hosting providers, SiteGround’s cloud hosting plans are very expensive. For example, you can get a cloud server with A2 Hosting for as little as $5 per month.
While SiteGround’s servers are more powerful and come with better features, I’m not sure I could justify spending the eye-watering amount SiteGround charges for their cloud hosting plans.
Other SiteGround Costs
Other than hosting your website with SiteGround, there are some other costs that you’ll need to consider. Unlike many web hosting plans, SiteGround doesn’t include a free domain with their hosting packages.
Depending on what domain name you want to register, SiteGround charges $17.99 per year for a .com domain.
In theory, you can get a domain name cheaper elsewhere, but if you want to keep all your eggs in the same basket, it’s a one-off cost and means you can manage your hosting and domain from the same place.
On top of domain registration costs, you can also add Domain Privacy which protects your personal details for $12 per year, and SiteGround’s in-house developed SG SiteScanner which checks your website daily and notifies you if it’s been hacked.
Note: These are extra costs that are optional. If you already have a domain registered elsewhere, you can simply input the details when you get to that step. Alternatively, you can read our guide to get a free domain name if you want to save yourself some money.
